Western Blue Chip

Economic forecasts for 12 Western region states have been published since 1986, using a consensus method inspired by the late Robert J. Eggert of Sedona, Arizona. The states included in the Western Blue Chip Economic Forecast are Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.

The forecasts are drawn from leading firms, universities and government organizations across the West. Individual forecasts and the consensus for the current year and the year ahead are provided at a state level.

Between 1986 and 2022, the forecasts were published monthly.  Data reported in the forecast tables for a given month are current as of the publication date, the first day of that month. The consensus for each state is the mean of all forecasts shown in the table. From January 2023, the forecasts have been published on a quarterly basis.
