Western Blue Chip Consensus Forecasts

The Western Blue Chip offers consensus economic forecasts for 12 Western region states. These are: Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.

The forecasts are drawn from leading firms, universities and government organizations across the West for the current year and the year ahead.

The current consensus forecast (shown below as charts or tables) were uploaded in July 2026.

They show annual consensus percentage change projections for personal income, retail sales, wage and salary employment, population growth and single-family housing permits by state in 2026 and 2027. Retail sales consensus forecasts for Nevada, New Mexico and Oregon are omitted as their state-specific forecasts instead report gross gaming revenue for Nevada, and manufacturing employment for New Mexico and Oregon.

These tables and charts are best viewed on non-mobile devices.

Historical consensus forecasts are also available from August 2018 (monthly through 2022, and quarterly from 2023).

The next update is due in October.
