Cactus League

Cactus League Spring Training is a 6-week long annual series of games played by 15 MLB teams in 10 metro Phoenix locations, coordinated and hosted by the Cactus League Baseball Association.

In spring 2018, Seidman was commissioned to assess the economic and fiscal impact of the 2018 Cactus League Spring Training season using visitor survey data collected at 25 games randomly-selected games. Twelve ASU students were employed and trained by Seidman to collect the data from approximately 4,000 visitors.

Using an IMPLAN model, Seidman estimated that the 2018 Cactus League season generated $373 million for the state’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and 6,439 annual jobs.
